All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. In cases of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Kempston, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of address must also be presented. Additionally, you will need to provide payment information and a security deposit, along with any other criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Kempston office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle pick-up. All rates are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where required. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment gateways.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed, requiring your signature. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as when collected; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. 5. Coverage and Responsibility

Additional insurance options may be available, allowing you to lower your financial risk. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including but not limited to racing, rallying, or off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting to unauthorized individuals or allowing unapproved drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should be used only for its intended purposes, and all passenger and weight limits must be adhered to. Operating the vehicle outside designated geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Kempston Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the total amount paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
